Over the decade plus we’ve known Larry and Jenny, they’ve just always been there.  From sharing flatbed stages with the Boatmen in Rock Creek, or playing some of the biggest festivals in WV…Larry Keel and crew have had a tremendous impact on our music scene in the Mountain state – especially here in Southern WV.  We are lucky enough to call them dear friends here at KITB.

In the runup to a Larry Keel & Natural Bridge performance on WVPB’s Mountain Stage program, NPR said “Keel leads a band dedicated to taking fiery, authentic bluegrass around the world.”  We’re proud to say that Larry played at every one of our favorite venues in the Mountain State – but his latest appearance at Melody’s in downtown Beckley was very special.  Larry’s current ‘core band’ – The Larry Keel Experience – made the trek to perform at a going away bash being thrown in honor of our best good buddy – Chuck Dickens.  Larry, his wife Jenny, and mandolin phenom Jared Pool joined our homies from The Great Grass Sea to give ol’ Good Time Charlie a proper send off.  With the band so close to the studio at KITBmedia, we couldn’t help but ask.  Larry and his crew were kind enough to hang out beforehand and record this gem – “Times Changin” – the first track from his new album One.

We recommend you watch this video, then go compare it with the live version on Larry’s latest album “One”. In order to get a truly critical analysis, you’ll definitely need to buy the record – and watch this awesome Prince Street Session at least 100 times. Join us and Larry Keel (alongside Aqueous, Mountain Heart, Fletcher’s Grove, The Kind Thieves, Long Point String Band, Matt Mullins & The Brindgdowns) at Bridge Jam 2019 – August 23-24 in Fayetteville WV.
